Book’s trim size and design specifications

We settle the physical book: page size, paper, binding, and which printer it is going to. This decides everything downstream, so it comes first.

Our advice to authors is to choose the size of book such as 6″ x 9″ or 5.5″ x 8.5″ which are fairly standard for paperback books, that the author feels is the best size for their book. If it is an art book or a family history you may want to explore more landscape style book sizes. We can create any size you feel fits your book.

Once the page size is determined, the next decision to make is regarding the type of paper you think will work best. White? Cream? Glossy? Non-Glossy?

Once the type of paper is chosen, the next step is binding — will it be paperback or hardcover?

These decisions at this stage are crucial for every step in the process that follows.

If you are unsure about the best fit for your book we are happy to have a conversation.
